Matthew Campbell began his career in the Brockton Public Schools in 2005 and taught history at West Middle School until 2017. At that point, he was named Assistant Principal of the school where he had established more than a decade of solid relationships with students and families.
At the same time, Matt had found a way to blend a love of sports and working with students by coaching football, beginning in 2000. That eventually led to joining the Brockton staff a decade later. Matt has also served as the Boys Track and Field Outdoor Coach at Brockton High School since 2013.
In 2019, Matt was asked to make the transition to Community Schools of Brockton and create a new sports program for the city’s youth. That was the start of Boxer Tough Sports, a program that provides the children of Brockton with high-quality low-cost sports opportunities.
“Parents spend millions of dollars every year on youth sports,” Campbell said. “For too many people it has become a money-making industry.”
Boxer Tough Sports is dedicated to ensuring that all Brockton youth are able to participate in sports that more often than not prove to be life-changing opportunities.
So, this year, he said, the question to ask is, “Are you Boxer Tough?”
